Starting close to the famous Molly Malone statue, the walk will meander past the former 18th century Parliament House and Trinity College, Ireland’s oldest university, before wheeling around buildings, streets and laneways with their own engaging stories on the way to Dublin Castle. Then, along by the extraordinary Chester Beatty Library, to the grounds of medieval St Patrick’s Cathedral and then to the even older Christ Church Cathedral.
But it’s all the other treasures and tales that you will encounter that help to make this journey so memorable. Stories and mementoes of Bram Stoker and his Dracula, Jonathan Swift and Gulliver’s Travels, yarns about Vikings, knights and ghosts and of George Frederick Handel’s very first performance of his most famous choral work, Messiah, in a Dublin music hall in 1742.
